The "House of the Priests" comes from the rehabiltacion of a house situated on the main quartered of the mining village of Puerto de la Laja banks of the Guadiana river, declared of Cultural Interest by the Government of Andalusia in the category of Historical Site. It is so named because two priests Huelva, after hanging habits were delivered there, a dissolute life. Registered in the Tourist Board of Huelva with the No. AR / HU / 329 of 09/12/2014.
The House of Priest is made with conservation criteria mining heritage and contemporary architecture. Has respected the facade wall opening new holes for the new plant and the water-covered without breaking the unit and the stand of the mining quartered. Inside it has been dug to allow creating a new mezzanine with chestnut logs and planks of wood connected with a straight steel plate floor slabs coated with green slate quarry Sotiel Coronada.La house has a large living room - dining room and kitchen on the ground floor with fireplace of sheet steel. On the mezzanine a bathroom distributes a master bedroom of marriage and another bedroom with two beds individuales. It has been furnished with modern and antique furniture found in the house restored in keeping with the history of where you are. The absence of decoration is a deliberate choice to achieve beauty broken only by the illustrative panels of the future center of interpretation of baixo / low Guadiana. In front of the facade masonry bench and paved terrace overlooking the river and the mineral carrier it is located. The village is located in a privileged place of the Guadiana river, natural beauty, with a deafening silence .Posee a spectacular pier mineral of great importance as industrial heritage. The town comes under the Greenway Trail and the river Guadiana to the twin mining town of Puerto de la Laja called Pomarao (Portugal).Now, with the new terrestrial communication, since the Guadiana river is navigable until Mértola, Portugal is five minutes from Puerto de la Laja. One step of a whole region to discover the "Baixo Alentejo" land of the great writer Jose Saramago and Nobel prize of "Alentejo singing" recently declared world heritage.
Puerto de la Laja is located in the heart of baixo / low Guadiana to be declared an international nature reserve for the preservation of the natural and human heritage treasures.
